Date stamp a cell

If you often have to enter the current date and time into a cell, you will appreciate these shortcuts. They will save you time in looking at your watch or cell phone to see the date/ time.

If you click in a cell and then push

• CTRL and
• ;

Excel will enter the current date as shown below. Note that it is a date stamp in that it ‘types’ it in. This date will not change if you open the file tomorrow.

If you want to enter the current time, click in a cell and then push

• CTRL and
• SHIFT and
• ;
