Doing Quick Calculations in Excel
Building spreadsheets can be an iterative process. You will often see spreadsheet jockeys working with their calculators and checking their numbers. You are continually checking and rechecking that the numbers make sense.
There are a number of built in tools that help you with this. We find we use these simple tips and tricks continuously and it is a good idea to learn them now
At the bottom of your Excel, you have a Status Bar which provides some more information about the cells you highlight. When cells are highlighted, the bottom of your spreadsheet will look something like this.
Note that you can get it to show the sum, average, count, numerical count minimum and maximum. The video clip shows you how.
