How to build nested formula in Excel

Part of our idea of Spreadsheet Best Practice is to keep the formulas as simply as possible. A simple formula is one that is easy to test and change.

However, if you need to (or sometimes want to) create more complex formula which are nested we suggest you do it by creating multiple small formula and then combining them.

This technique will reduce your chance of errors and make sure that when you click enter you are not told that there are not enough brackets or you have missed some arguments.
