Paste without overwriting blank cells

Please purchase the course before starting the lesson.

You can even tell Excel, via Paste Special, to only update the cells that have information in them. If the updated cell is blank ignore it and leave the old information in.

So below we have a report with sales (B6 to B9). We have received information from different teams updating certain cells but leaving the ones they are not responsible for blank. If we copied and pasted, for example, B13 to B16 onto B6 to B9 it would overwrite some sales with a blank.

Paste Special Skip Blanks

To avoid this we use paste special. Below the new information. Note (the 500 and 300) is used but it leaves the old information as it was.

Paste Special Skip Blanks

You could then update the information for the next teams updates without worrying whether you will overwrite some information.
