A very common problem with charts is how to show very big numbers (e.g. revenue) and very small numbers (e.g. gross profit %) on the same chart.

As shown below, charts with very differently sized numbers won’t show properly.

So here we have a chart and we want to see the % costs compared to the costs, but the red line is just a straight line at the bottom. This is as a result of the scale.

The vertical scale goes from 0 to 500, so the number 10% (0.10) is right at the bottom. It doesn’t matter how big the percentage. On this scale it will always be at the bottom.
