Using the F4 shortcut for $ signs

Now that you know about using the $ signs we need to tell you about a shortcut for them. The shortcut is simple but please, while you are still getting used to using them, rather manually enter them into the cells. In your head decide whether the $ signs should be on the letter, or number or both and then type them in.

This shortcut is more useful when you are more familiar with using the $’s or if you know you want the $ sign on both the letter and number.

As shown below, in cell F13 we have created a formula to take the price per unit and multiply it with the units sold per year. We now need to add $ signs to the E8 reference so that it keeps looking there. You can type them in, but there is a shortcut.
